BEAT 01

Past-Self Open

OPENING00:00.000:20.0 · 3 shots

This beat uses a Past-Self Open by the speaker referencing their own habitual behavior: 'if I try and test something or if I go to a nice restaurant and it's great, I want to tell the world about it.' This personal admission creates relatability and primes the viewer to trust the speaker's forthcoming recommendation. It also sets up a narrative of personal experience that engages the viewer's empathy and attention.

Why this works:This leverages the Identity Hook by aligning the speaker with viewers who value honest recommendations, creating instant relevance. The Past-Self Open principle activates Social Proof and Authority Transfer, as the speaker positions themselves as a credible, experienced user rather than a detached advertiser. This combination makes viewers more receptive and curious about the upcoming explanation, increasing engagement.

Visual Direction

This beat presents a series of extended still frames featuring the speaker mid-chest up against a clean white minimal background, bathed in soft natural light. The second frame introduces the product, held at chest height for clear presentation. The visual strategy emphasizes the speaker's direct gaze and expressions in these earnest portraits.

two cycles ago so around April time I was around holiday when I was having really bad pre menstrual symptoms it had been happening for a while I've got three children that are still quite young my youngest is 1 and a 1/2 so I know my body has been through a lot lot of changes a lot of hormonal imbalance but this particular cycle was probably the worst that I've I've ever had my stomach was looked like I was six months pregnant every night my skin broke out in a way that I'd never it's not even as a teenager all I would say from here downwards all here now I know it's quite superficial things but actually it goes deeper than that because I just I didn't feel myself and I felt completely off balance I didn't feel like me something wasn't working and I was away put my kids to bed at night and I just sat in bed researching hormone balance different formulas this that and the other and then I came across Equi London and I saw this video by Rosie who's one of the founders and there were things that she was saying I was like yes yes that really I could really relate to that as well as it like relating to it on a personal level but also I loved the fact that it was natural I'm not a pill popper I don't love taking loads of different um tablets in terms of like natural tablets I'm just it just doesn't really appeal to me so the fact that there was this formula that they created that combined loads of different things I thought okay there's something in this I ordered it I would make sure it arrived on my doorstep the day that I arrived back from holiday and I started taking it every single day it fitted in with my lifestyle I've got three young children you can imagine life is quite busy and hectic um in the mornings I barely even get to have a glass of water but I but I said to myself this is this is doable it's out on the side it's two teaspoons of the formula mixed with I just mix it with water and I down it I usually I was doing it before bed so that's when I had it um and I could I could fit that into my lifestyle it was realistic anyway fast forward 30+ days my cycle arrived and honestly genuinely I was shocked I was like hang on a minute am I you on I didn't even realise I there was no bloating there was a couple of breakouts but I do get that every now and then I just couldn't believe that I came on and yet I didn't have any of those symptoms that I suffered with and have been suffering with now just to be completely transparent when I got back from holiday I did start incorporating exercise looking at my diet I do in general eat quite well I've definitely up my water so I always think with these things it's kind of like a you know all works together but honestly this product I feel like I will have in my life always

BEAT 02

Relatability Setup

CONTEXT00:20.001:20.0 · 0 shots

This beat uses personal disclosure by sharing specific details about the speaker's recent experience with severe premenstrual symptoms and the challenges of having young children. Phrases like 'I've got three children that are still quite young' and 'this particular cycle was probably the worst that I've ever had' create an emotional connection by revealing vulnerability and shared struggles. This moment invites the viewer to empathize and see the speaker as someone who understands their own difficulties intimately.

Why this works:This leverages Relatability Setup by tapping into shared lived experiences and emotional states, making the viewer feel understood and less alone. The Disclosure Effect enhances trust and connection by showing vulnerability, while Emotional Contagion helps the viewer resonate with the speaker's feelings. Together, these principles deepen engagement by transforming the speaker from a distant narrator into a relatable individual facing real challenges.

BEAT 03

Identity Pain

TENSION01:20.002:00.0 · 0 shots

This beat uses vivid, personal descriptions like 'My stomach looked like I was six months pregnant every night' and 'I didn't feel like me' to highlight a deep sense of personal imbalance and loss of self. It connects superficial physical symptoms to a deeper emotional and identity struggle, making the viewer feel the weight of not recognizing oneself.

Why this works:This leverages Identity Pain by framing the problem as a threat to the viewer's self-image and personal standards, which naturally triggers emotional engagement. The Specificity Bias in detailed physical descriptions makes the issue tangible, while Emotional Resonance deepens the connection, making viewers empathize and feel compelled to understand or resolve this internal conflict.

Visual Direction

BEAT 04

Story Continuation

DELIVERY02:00.002:50.0 · 0 shots

This beat continues the personal narrative by describing the research process and discovery of the product through a relatable story. The speaker shares specific details like 'put my kids to bed,' 'researching hormone balance,' and finding a video by Rosie, which deepens the viewer's connection and trust. This continuation keeps the viewer engaged by building on the established context and emotional resonance.

Why this works:This leverages the Story Continuation principle by maintaining narrative momentum, which sustains viewer engagement through a coherent and relatable storyline. It also uses Personalization Effect by sharing intimate, everyday moments that foster empathy and trust. Together, these principles make the viewer feel involved and invested in the speaker's journey, increasing attention and receptivity.

BEAT 05

Feature Breakdown

DELIVERY02:50.003:30.0 · 0 shots

This beat explains a single feature of the product — its ease of integration into a busy lifestyle. The speaker details how they mix two teaspoons of the formula with water and consume it before bed, emphasizing that it is "doable" and "realistic" despite a hectic morning routine. This concretely shows the product's convenience and adaptability to the viewer's own life.

Why this works:This leverages the Specificity Bias by providing exact details about the dosage and timing, making the product feel tangible and credible. It also uses the Social Proof principle, as the speaker's personal experience with a busy lifestyle reassures viewers that the product fits into real-life constraints. Together, these principles reduce skepticism and increase the viewer's belief that they too can realistically use the product.

Visual Direction

BEAT 06

Contradiction Reveal

SHIFT03:30.004:00.0 · 0 shots

This beat reveals a contradiction between the viewer's expectation of menstrual symptoms and the creator's actual experience. The phrase 'I was like, hang on a minute. Am I due on? I didn't even realise I, there was no bloating' highlights the unexpected absence of typical symptoms. This moment forces the viewer to reconsider their assumptions about what a menstrual cycle must feel like.

Why this works:This leverages the Contradiction Reveal principle by exposing a direct conflict between common beliefs about menstrual symptoms and the creator's reality, which surprises the viewer and disrupts their mental model. It also taps into the Surprise Effect, making the viewer more attentive and engaged as they process this unexpected information. Together, these principles compel the viewer to pay closer attention and reconsider their preconceived notions.

Visual Direction

BEAT 07

Identity Alignment

VALIDATION04:00.004:20.0 · 0 shots

The speaker transparently shares their personal routine changes like exercising, improving diet, and increasing water intake, then emphasizes a lasting commitment by saying, 'I feel like I will have in my life always.' This phrasing aligns the product with the viewer's values of health and consistency, making it feel like a natural, integrated part of a healthy lifestyle rather than a one-time fix.

Why this works:This leverages Identity Alignment Validation by connecting the product to the viewer's self-concept as someone who values health and sustainable habits, increasing trust and relatability. The Transparency Effect reduces skepticism by openly admitting other efforts, which enhances credibility. Together, these principles make the viewer more receptive because the product feels authentic and congruent with their identity.

Visual Direction

BEAT 08

Cost/Benefit Shift

SHIFT04:20.004:28.0 · 0 shots

This beat highlights that the product 'ticks the boxes' for eliminating synthetics, fitting the speaker's lifestyle, and genuinely working. The repeated phrase 'ticks the boxes' emphasizes a checklist of benefits, reassuring the viewer that the product meets multiple important criteria simultaneously. This reframes the perceived cost-benefit balance by showing the product as both practical and effective.

Why this works:This leverages the Cost/Benefit Shift by prompting viewers to reassess the true value of the product, emphasizing multiple benefits that outweigh potential costs. The Specificity Bias is engaged through the checklist format ('ticks the boxes'), making the benefits concrete and credible. This combination reduces skepticism and increases perceived utility, making the viewer more likely to accept the product's value.

BEAT 09

Identity Close

CLOSE04:28.004:32.7 · 7 shots

This beat uses a heartfelt testimonial technique, where the speaker openly praises the product and expresses genuine gratitude, saying, 'Ecru London, thank you for this because I just feel like I needed and have needed something for so long.' This creates a personal connection by aligning the speaker's identity as a stylist who values inner and outer well-being with the product's benefits, making the viewer feel that adopting this product aligns with their own values and identity.

Why this works:This leverages Identity Alignment by connecting the viewer's self-concept with the product through the speaker's authentic endorsement. The use of Social Proof is evident as the speaker's enthusiastic recommendation signals trustworthiness and effectiveness. Additionally, the Reciprocity principle is subtly invoked by the speaker thanking the corporation, which encourages viewers to respond positively. Together, these principles make the viewer more likely to internalize the message and feel motivated to engage with the product.

Visual Direction

This beat maintains the speaker's mid-chest framing and clean white background but dynamically intersperses her direct address with very brief, static close-up product shots. The visual language oscillates between an earnest monologue and focused product display, with the speaker's passionate gestures and beaming expressions reinforcing the emotional connection throughout the static holds.
