Free Trial and Free Plan FAQ: 50 Credits, Limits and How to Evaluate
What Klip Kanvas’s free 50 credits actually buy, what is gated, whether you can run the output as ads, how to judge quality fairly, and how upgrading and expiry work.
The free plan is 50 credits, no card and no countdown. This FAQ covers what those credits actually buy, what is gated, commercial use, how to judge quality in a real feed, upgrading, and when unused credits expire.
01
What You Get
1.Is Klip Kanvas free to try, or is it a timed trial?
It is a free plan, not a 7- or 14-day clock. You get 50 credits on sign-up with no credit card required, and the workspace does not shut itself off on a calendar date. When the credits are gone, rendering stops; scripts, drafts and already-rendered files stay. That design is deliberate: a countdown makes people rush a bad brief, while a credit budget lets you gather product assets, write a real hook and still generate finished ads. Treat the 50 credits as an evaluation grant, not a monthly allowance that refills on its own.
#What You Get#Expiry
2.What do the 50 free credits actually include?
Core generation: the 50+ avatar library, script and hook tools, captions, B-roll assembly, 30+ languages, and 1080p export in 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9. A typical 15–60s ad renders in 3–5 minutes, and a first finished ad is realistic in under 10 minutes from sign-up if your product URL and a few images are ready. Credits are spent on renders, not on drafting or editing, so you can rewrite a script ten times before you pay anything. What you are buying with free credits is finished video, not time in the editor.
#What You Get
3.How many finished ads can I make with 50 free credits?
Enough for a real first comparison, not a month of testing. Credit cost scales with length and resolution, so a cluster of 15–30s ads at 1080p is the efficient use; stretching every render to 60s burns the grant faster. Aim for one body script, three hooks and two avatars — the standard 6-creative batch — then stop and watch those in a feed rather than generating a twelfth near-duplicate. If you exhaust the 50 credits on previews you never export, you have evaluated the editor, not the ads. Spend them on variants you would actually launch.

4.Can I export 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 on the free plan?
Yes, at 1080p, which is the resolution paid social actually delivers after Meta and TikTok recompress the file. Generate the master in 9:16 first — that is where almost all cold traffic lives — then re-export 1:1 or 16:9 from the same project if a placement needs it. 4K is a premium-tier feature and is not part of the free grant; for feed ads it rarely changes performance anyway. If a client contract or a CTV cut genuinely needs 4K, that is an upgrade reason, not a reason to skip the free evaluation.
#What You Get#Limits on Free
5.Is the full avatar library available on free?
The stock library of 50+ avatars is available on free; custom cloning of a founder or employee is not. That split is operational: a clone needs a consent recording, a review step and private storage, which sits on higher tiers — see /pricing for which ones. For an evaluation this is the right constraint. You learn more from testing two stock faces against three hooks than from waiting on a clone. If a named spokesperson is the whole brand, note cloning as a later upgrade and still run the free batch so you know whether the format converts before you invest in a likeness.

Limits on Free
6.What is gated behind a paid plan that I will not get on free?
The expensive-to-run features: 4K export, custom avatar cloning, priority render queue, extra team seats and a recurring monthly credit allowance. Free is an evaluation tier, not a discounted production plan. You also will not get unused-credit rollover the way paid plans do — paid unused credits carry one billing cycle, while the 50 free credits are a one-time grant. If your job is “ship 20 ads a month for a live account,” free will feel cramped on purpose. Check /pricing for the current paid feature matrix rather than assuming a blog post is current.
#Limits on Free
7.Are free-plan videos watermarked?
Yes. Files generated against the 50 free credits carry a watermark so the tier stays an evaluation, not unpaid production. Paid-plan exports are clean 1080p files with no logo, bug or end card unless you add one. That is a real limitation and the main reason you should not plan to launch a campaign solely on free output. Use free renders to judge face, hook and pacing; upgrade before anything client-facing or paid. If you send a watermarked file to a stakeholder as “the ad,” they will review the watermark, not the creative.
#Limits on Free#Commercial Use
8.Is there a slower render queue on the free plan?
Free jobs sit in the standard queue; paid higher tiers can buy priority. A typical 30-second ad still lands in 3–5 minutes, so for a first evaluation the queue is rarely the bottleneck — briefing a weak script is. Priority starts to matter when you are rendering a batch of 20 before a launch window, not when you are making three comparison ads on a Tuesday afternoon. Do not upgrade only to jump the queue until you have a cadence that actually collides with it. If a job is stuck far past five minutes, that is a render issue, not a plan issue.
#Limits on Free
9.Can I invite teammates on the free plan?
Free is sized for a single operator. Extra seats, client workspaces and approval flows sit on paid team and agency tiers — the live seat counts are on /pricing. You can still evaluate as a team by downloading a watermarked preview and reviewing it in Slack or Loom, which is enough to decide whether the format is worth buying. What you cannot do is run a proper multi-brand workspace on free credits. If collaboration is the only reason you would upgrade, confirm the seat count on the tier you are considering before you move, because seats and credits rarely run out on the same day.

Commercial Use
10.Can I run videos I made on the free plan as paid ads?
You hold commercial rights to generated output, including on free, but the watermark makes those files a poor live creative. Practically: evaluate on free, ship from a paid plan with a clean export. Rights are not the gate; the file is. Do not assume a screenshot of a watermarked render is a fair test of hook rate either — viewers react to the bug. If you need a live test on real spend, upgrade, re-render the winning pair without the watermark, and then read 48–72 hours or about 1,000 impressions per variant.
#Commercial Use
11.Do I have to credit Klip Kanvas when I post the video?
No attribution is required on output you have the rights to use. Paid exports do not carry a platform end card, and you may run them as ads, organic posts or product-page embeds without a “made with” line. The advertiser still owns compliance — AI disclosure, claims, and platform rules sit with you, not with us. A missing Meta or TikTok disclosure can tank an account regardless of whose tool rendered the face. Use our toggles where they help, then have a human confirm the ad is legal in the market you are buying.
#Commercial Use
12.Can an agency evaluate Klip Kanvas on free credits for a client pitch?
Yes, and it is the right first step, with two caveats. First, watermarked files should never go to a client as a deliverable; they are internal proof of concept. Second, 50 credits is enough to show format and casting, not to fake a full account build. Pitch the workflow with two avatars and three hooks, then price a paid workspace if they green-light. Do not promise a client that free-plan output will run in their ad account. There is a longer agency-specific answer in the client-work FAQ if you need workspace and markup detail.
#Commercial Use#Evaluating Quality
13.Do commercial rights change if I later upgrade or cancel?
Rights on videos already generated stay with you. Upgrading does not rewrite the licence, and cancelling does not claw back files you exported while the account was in good standing. What does change is your ability to make new clean renders: after cancel, you keep downloads of existing videos, but new production needs an active plan. This is why you should export anything you might need before a billing change, not after. Rights never transfer ownership of a stock avatar’s face to you — you licence the generated video, not the actor.

04
Evaluating Quality
14.How should I actually evaluate the free plan so the test is fair?
Do not judge a single preview in the editor on a laptop. Brief a real product, pick two avatars who look like the buyer, write three distinct hooks, render the 6-creative batch, and watch the 9:16 files on a phone with sound off for the first three seconds. That is the context paid social is consumed in. If you only watch one polished take at full volume on a monitor, you will overrate smoothness and underrate whether the opening line stops a thumb. Spend the 50 credits on that comparison, not on hunting a perfect face.
#Evaluating Quality
15.What does a “good” first batch look like on 50 credits?
One offer, one body script, 3 hooks × 2 avatars, 15–30 seconds, 9:16, 1080p. That is the same starting batch we recommend on paid plans, just smaller in volume. Do not mix five offers into one evaluation — you will not know what failed. After render, pick the two you would actually spend money on and, if you upgrade, launch those into one ad set with broad targeting. Read the test at 48–72 hours or ~1,000 impressions per variant. Hook rate below ~20% is a first-two-seconds problem; 30%+ is the target.
#Evaluating Quality
16.If my free ads look fake, does that mean AI UGC will not work for my brand?
Not by itself. Free output is watermarked, often watched in the wrong context, and frequently briefed with brochure copy no human would say. Fix the script first: sentences under 15 words, a concrete hook, no hand-demo of the product. Then recast. Avatars still break on fine hand work, wide smiles and long unbroken talking-head takes past about 8–10 seconds — those are real engine limits, not free-plan limits. If the product story is “watch me apply this cream,” you need real footage in the edit regardless of plan. That is a hybrid-workflow conclusion, not a “this tool is useless” conclusion.

Credit Card Questions
17.Do I need a credit card to start the free plan?
No. Sign-up does not require a card, and we will not bill you for looking around. The 50 credits are granted on the account, not authorised against a payment method. If a checkout page asks for a card, you have left the free plan and entered a paid upgrade or a paid intro offer — read the charge line before you confirm. Requiring a card is how many tools turn “free” into an accidental subscription; this one does not. Add a card only when you have decided to buy, from the billing panel or /pricing.
#Credit Card Questions
18.Will I be charged automatically after I use the 50 credits?
No. Exhausting free credits does not enrol you in a paid plan and does not place a hold on a card you never added. Rendering simply stops until you upgrade or, if a paid offer exists, complete checkout on /pricing. You will not wake up to a renewal you did not start. The only automatic charges in this product are on paid subscriptions that you turned on, which renew until you cancel. If you see a charge you did not authorise, that is a billing incident — contact support with the receipt, do not assume the free plan “converted.”
#Credit Card Questions#Upgrading
19.Why do other AI video tools require a card for a trial?
Because a card on file converts well and cuts abuse. It is a valid business tactic and a bad evaluation design: people either forget to cancel or rush the test before the trial ends. We separated evaluation (50 credits, no card) from production (paid tiers on /pricing) so you can decide with finished ads rather than a calendar. If you later take a paid intro offer that does require a card, treat that as a purchase with a renewal date, not as an extension of free. Read the renewal line at checkout; that is the contract, not this paragraph.
#Credit Card Questions
20.Can I add a card without upgrading, for faster checkout later?
You can store a payment method in billing when the product offers it, but adding a card is not the same as starting a subscription. A stored card does not spend credits and does not bypass the free watermark. Do not add a card “just in case” on a shared laptop or a contractor’s browser. If you do store one, set a calendar reminder for any renewal you later start, because paid plans auto-renew until cancelled. The safer path for most first-time users is to leave billing empty until the 6-creative test has earned an upgrade.

Upgrading
21.How do I upgrade from the free plan?
Open /pricing, pick a tier by render volume rather than by ambition, and complete checkout. The upgrade takes effect immediately: clean (non-watermarked) exports, the paid credit allowance, and any gated features on that tier unlock without waiting for a billing date. Your free-plan projects, scripts and avatars come with you; you do not start a second workspace. Size the first paid month as one testing cadence — roughly 12–20 renders for a single product line — then adjust. Buying the top tier on day one is how people overpay.
#Upgrading
22.What happens to my free-plan work when I pay?
It stays. Projects, scripts, uploaded footage, brand kit and generated files remain in the same account. Re-render the ads you want to launch so you get a clean paid export; do not upload the watermarked free file into Ads Manager and hope the bug is small. Credits from the new plan are added to your balance rather than wiping history. If a render failed on free, retry it after upgrade instead of assuming the file is gone. Export a local copy of anything you already like, because local copies survive every future billing change.
#Upgrading#What You Get
23.Which paid features are not worth buying on day one?
Custom cloning, 4K, and a large credit pile bought against an imagined workflow. The stock library covers most first campaigns; 1080p is what the feed shows; unused paid credits only roll over one cycle, so a fat allowance you do not render is wasted by month three. Start on the entry paid tier after free, run one full cycle, count actual renders, then move. The signal to upgrade further is running dry twice in a row, not a feeling that you might need 4K later. Details on what each tier gates live on /pricing.
#Upgrading
24.Do unused free credits carry into a paid plan?
Treat remaining free credits as still sitting on the balance when you upgrade, and confirm in the billing panel on the day you pay — do not plan a production month around a leftover that might be small. Paid unused credits then follow paid rules: they roll over for one billing cycle, not forever. The 50-credit grant is not a recurring free refill after you subscribe. If you have ten credits left and you need a 6-creative batch, you will still need the paid allowance. Count what is on the dashboard, not what this sentence implies.
#Upgrading#Expiry
07
Expiry
25.Do the 50 free credits expire if I do not use them?
They are a one-time evaluation grant, not a monthly allotment, and they do not auto-refill. We do not run a short “use it in 48 hours or lose it” clock on them, because that would recreate the trial-pressure problem. Long-dormant accounts can still be cleaned up under the terms, so if you created a workspace a year ago and never rendered, sign in and check the balance before you brief a campaign. Do not stockpile free credits as a production strategy. If you need ongoing volume, that is what paid plans on /pricing are for.
#Expiry
26.Does a free account get deleted if I stop logging in?
Inactive accounts can be removed under the terms after a long idle period; this is not a 30-day trap, but it is also not a forever-archive promise. Download anything you care about rather than using a free workspace as cold storage for client assets. If the account is gone, the watermarked previews go with it. Paid customers have a clearer retention path because there is an active billing relationship. If you only needed the test, export the two best files to disk and move on. If you might return, log in occasionally or upgrade when you have a live campaign.
#Expiry
27.What happens when my free credits run out?
Rendering stops. You can still open projects, edit scripts, upload footage and plan the next batch; you cannot push a new render until credits exist again. Nothing is auto-purchased. Two honest next steps: you saw enough to walk away, or you upgrade on /pricing and re-render winners without a watermark for a live test. Running a media campaign on leftover editor previews is not a third option. If a job failed on the last credit, failed renders generally do not keep the credit — retry after you have balance, and contact support if a credit disappeared on a true failure.
#Expiry#What You Get
28.Can I get another 50 free credits later?
Not as a self-serve refill, and we would rather say that than hint at a coupon that does not exist. The free grant is one evaluation per account, not a quarterly sampler. Creating extra accounts to restock credits is abuse and can get the workspaces closed. If budget is the blocker, the efficient pattern is: spend the 50, then one paid month during the actual launch window, then cancel if you go quiet — cancellation is always available, and unused paid credits are generally not refunded, so time the month to production. Promotional grants, if any, appear on /pricing, not in support chat as a default.
